I have discussed this with my child. I understand and will comply with the following:
My child will be dressed in his or her First Communion clothing for the Procession.
My child will be in the designated area for “First Communicants” on South Tryon Street by Martin Luther King Blvd. We will be there at 8:30 a.m.
My child will walk in front of Bishop Martin, who will be carrying the Monstrance with the Blessed Sacrament. I understand that the route starts on South Tryon at Martin Luther King Blvd. It proceeds to 3rd Street and then turns right onto Brevard St. and then to the Charlotte Convention Center entrance at Brooklyn Village and Brevard Street. (A map of the route is available on the website:
www.GoEucharist.com
.)
I will walk on the sides of the street of the Procession with a watchful eye to supervise my child.
If I am able, I will bring a basket of rose petals for my child to drop, a few at a time, as we walk before the Blessed Sacrament. (Baskets with rose petals will be available for those who cannot provide their own.)
As we enter the Charlotte Convention Center, I will walk with my child into the Hall on the Lower Level to participate in the Holy Hour.
I understand that I should provide a change of clothes for my child following the Outdoor Eucharistic Procession.
